Backup and a new phone

No account needed. Sign in to keep a copy in the cloud and get your hours back on a new phone. Two devices in step is Pro.

Your hours live on your phone and the app never needs an account. A backup is for one thing: getting those hours back on a new phone, or after the app is removed.

Without an account

Everything in this guide works signed out. If you want a copy of your records without an account, export a CSV of each period from the timesheet; Pay periods, the timesheet and exports shows how.

Creating an account

  1. Open Settings › Account & backup.
  2. Enter an email and a password and tap Create an account.
  3. The screen says "Check your email to confirm the account, then sign in". Open the email on any device and tap its link.
  4. Back in the app, tap Sign in.

Once signed in, every job and shift on the phone is sent to your backup, and later changes follow within a few seconds whenever you have a connection. The account screen shows what is still waiting to upload. Back up now sends it immediately.

Backup is one-way: this phone's hours go up. The account's copy comes down once, when you restore. Keeping two devices in step with each other is a Pro feature; see below.

What is backed up: your jobs, rates and overtime rules, and every shift with its breaks and notes. Device settings such as the 24-hour clock and reminders stay on the phone. The backup is stored in the EU and only your account can read it; the privacy policy has the detail.

A new phone

  1. Install Clock Card.
  2. On the welcome screen tap Already use Clock Card? Restore a backup, or later open Settings › Account & backup.
  3. Sign in with the same email and password.

Your jobs and shifts download and the app carries on where you left off. If you had Pro, restore that too; see Free and Pro.

Two devices

With Pro, a phone and a tablet signed in to the same account stay in step: changes made on one appear on the other within a few seconds of either having a connection. Where the same shift was edited on both while offline, the most recent edit wins. On the free tier each device backs up its own hours, and a second device only takes the account's copy down when it first restores; the account screen offers Sync across devices to upgrade.

Signing out

Sign out on the account screen leaves everything on the phone and stops sending changes. Signing back in resumes.

Deleting the account

Delete account… on the account screen removes the account and everything backed up with it, after a confirmation. It cannot be undone. The hours on your phone stay exactly as they were, and if you later create a new account they are backed up to it. Subscriptions are not cancelled by deleting an account; do that with Apple or Google. The account deletion page also covers deletion by email.
